On this chilly day off I thought I would take a break from playing the hell out of NHL 14 for the Xbox 360 to write a little bit with some Random Rants of random thoughts. There are a few topics I wanted to discuss today and thought it was a good time as any to put the virtual pen to virtual paper so to speak.
Boy oh boy have I been loving the new NHL 14 for the Xbox 360 and have been spending pretty much every spare moment playing this game. The game physics for the puck and collisions is damn near perfect and then there is the “Live The Life” mode. I pretty much exclusively play the Be A Pro mode in sports games and the re-vamped mode is more in depth this year. The ability to answer interview questions that impact your attributes and your standing with the fans, team mates, management and your family is a neat little mini game. I am halfway through my first season with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL and I can’t put the game down!
My favorite form of entertainment right now is the SModco podcast “Hollywood Babble On” hosted by Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman. They look at current entertainment and “geek” new and put their own comedic spin on it. This show has made me laugh harder than I have ever laughed before and a lot of it is due to the performance and impressions of Garman. He is a superb impressionist and has fantastic comedic timing with Smith. I have made it a part of my weekly routine and hope that the pilot they are shooting for AMC for a Hollywood Babble On tv show gets picked up.
Imagine my surprise to see that in November that Nightwish will be releasing a blu ray of their performance at the Wacken Open Air festival this year which laos happened to be the final performance of their Imaginaerum world tour. Here is the details:
Finnish Symphonic Metal legends NIGHTWISH have revealed the cover artwork and more details of their upcoming new live DVD. »Showtime, Storytime« contains the entire NIGHTWISH headliner show, played at this years’ legendary Wacken Open Air – the world’s biggest heavy metal festival. The live show in the front of 85 000 screaming metalheads was directed by Ville Lipiäinen, filmed with seventeen cameras and has a total duration of 85 minutes.
The second disc consists of 120-minute tour documentary ‘Please Learn The Setlist in 48 Hours’, also directed by Ville Lipiäinen, with no short of drama or overall madness. Also, there is a 16-minute NIGHTWISH Table Hockey Tournament, filmed on tour. On top of this there are two music clips: ‘I Want My Tears Back’ (Live at Hartwall Arena) and ‘Ghost Love Score’ (Live in Buenos Aires).
The Wacken Open Air appearance was the first of the three final shows of the band’s `Imaginaerum World Tour´ 2013, which saw the Norsemen and their Dutch amazon Floor Jansen (REVAMP) playing of 104 concerts in 34 different countries with total audience of over 1,5 million fans around the globe.
Mastermind and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen states: “Our darling flying Dutchwoman, Floor Jansen, has been nothing but incredible during her time in NIGHTWISH on this tour, so this is a perfect opportunity to immortalize the current vibe of the band on film!”
The setlist reads as follows (DVD1):

02. Wish I Had An Angel
03. She Is My Sin
04. Ghost River
05. Ever Dream

10. Bless The Child

»Showtime, Storytime« will be released on November 29th as a “Ltd. 2Blu-ray + 2CD DIGI”, “Ltd. 2DVD + 2CD DIGI”, “Ltd. 2CD DIGI”, “2LP (coloured) in gatefold” and an exclusive “Nuclear Blast Mailorder Edition”.
The day is closer to the November 8th release date of Thor: The Dark World and I can not wait!!! The new trailer has me super excited and I think that this film has the potential to be the best comic book movie this year. There is some “darkness” in the movie like Man Of Steel but the difference is Thor 2 will have some light moments as well which will allow you to not be overwhelmed by the dramatic weight of the movie. That is my biggest gripe with the new Superman film is that you are drowning in darkness and depression for the entire film with no real glimmer of light to break it up. Marvel will not make this mistake with Thor: The Dark World
