My 10 Guilty Pleasures Musically

Everyone that knows me, or reads this blog, knows that I am a HUGE lover of music. No matter the artist, the genre or the logic behind it all…..a good song will transcend everything because it is just a damn good song.

As I am sitting here in the Hampton Inn in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (I am here for 2 weeks for work purposes) I got around to thinking what are the songs I rarely speak off that I adore. My musical taste is diverse and is all over the map, and I am well known for my love of KISS, Nightwish, Lordi, Motley Crue, Free Spirit, Halestorm…well….the list goes on and on.

So I decided on this night to share with you 10 songs I can not get enough of…..but I don’t advertise that I like. They are in no particular order and the only criteria I used was if it made my toe tap or me sing along.

“Africa” by Toto

“Church Of Your Heart” by Roxette

“The Red Strokes” by Garth Brooks

“Your Love” by The Outfield

“Sea Of No Cares” by Great Big Sea

“Brian Wilson” by Barenaked Ladies

“It Can’t Rain All The Time” by Jane Siberry

“Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga

“Love Story” by Taylor Swift

“Lips Of An Angel” by Hinder

I imagine quite a few were surprised to see some of my choices, especially the Garth Brooks, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga tunes. The truth is that I enjoy all these songs but they are out of my comfort zone (some by a lot) as I tend to stay with in the hard rock/metal genre.

Does it “destroy my cred” if I admit to liking these songs? Maybe to some, but you know what? I am a diverse person musically and these songs, along with my love of KISS, Nightwish, Lordi etc, just re-enforce that.

Plus Lady Gaga has the blessing of KISS……so there!!!
